George Kimbrue, Private, 93rd Indiana Infantry, U.S.A., half-length portrait, seated holding a pistol and a saber. Date Created/Published: photographed between 1861 and 1865, printed later. Images of the war provided by LOC. Original medium: 1 photographic print.

Mirror Image

How interesting that this photo, as evidenced by the backwards "US" on the soldier's belt buckle and the physical characteristics of what appears to be a Remington pistol of the time, is a mirror image. The print must have been inverted.
